JOB DESCRIPTION

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating large CNC machines to produce large, complex parts to customer specifications, with close tolerances. The preferred applicant will have experience with CNC Siemens and Fanuc controls; large machinery including saws, VTLs, horizontal boring mills, and milling equipment; and overhead crane and forklift in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Layout material and select proper starting point, set up machine, load program into controls, operate machinery manually using multiple axis programmable controller.
- Adjust speeds and feeds appropriately.
- Assume ownership over a part during machining operations.
- Select, install, and change tooling.
- Create, check, and adjust CNC programs.
- Procure core samples for testing.
- Verify part sizes by performing layout operation; complete non-conforming material reports.
- Verify and maintain proper part identification.
- Perform basic maintenance of equipment.
- Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

- At least 2 years Experience with CNC Siemens or Fanuc controls
- High School Diploma/GED
- Program editing using G/M codes
- Quality inspection experience and ability to use micrometers, calipers, and various different gauges.
- Overhead crane and forklift in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Experience setting up and operating large machinery including saws, Vertical Turret Lathes VTLs, Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM), and milling equipment
