Reporting to the Global QA and Technical Director, the Regional QA Manager for Softlines and Footwear is responsible for preventing poor quality merchandise from reaching our customers. This will increase Customer Satisfaction and reduce returns. Overseas product quality inspections and processes for teams in multiple locations for Sears and Kmart products. DC's managed: Mira Loma/ Chambersburg/ Delano

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with Receiving, Transportation and DC operations managers to maximize effectiveness in stopping merchandise.
  • Assess workload demands using Query er reporting system in conjunction with QA pending mandatory reports to establish daily team priorities.
  • Monitor inspector performance and review/validate inspection failures and representative samples prior to forwarding QH Holds.
  • Oversee the loading and processing of return to vendor merchandise.
  • Track all returns in a '605' log and update Focus system.
  • Coordinate with home office, regarding special requests.
  • Oversee QA system results reporting to Hong Kong.
  • Coach inspection team reviewing proper procedures with ongoing training effort.
  • Monitor special test requests from overseas to make sure merchandise is sampled in a timely manner and follow up until the cases are solved and closed.
  • Make at least, quarterly visits to other inspection sites to review, evaluate and direct any changes in methods or processes that may be needed as well as providing ongoing training and also focusing on inspection methods standardization.
  • Supervise the inspectors overall work performance and work stations.
  • Maintenance and development of QA databases.
  • Monitor the amount of inspections conducted by the Distribution Center and compare according to the goals.
  • Provide statistics to the Global QA and Technical Director
  • Review inspection schedules, manpower allocation, inspection results, other management and administrative issues .
  • Make realistic judgment and decisions in areas of responsibility.
  • Make sure product quality meets or exceeds SHGS standards.
  • Manage and develop quality control teams including recruitment, orientation, coaching, training and development.
  • Improve and optimize quality control procedures.
  • Be responsible for strategic auditing and follow - up.
  • Be responsible for the correctness and integrity of the QA database.
  • Handle failed inspections in accordance to the process.
  • Month end reports for SHGS management
  • Make sure that every inspector is trained to drive a standup and a sit down forklift to pull.
Job Competencies
  • Degree on Engineering, Management or Manufacturing.
  • At least 6 years in quality assurance exposures with 3 years in supervisory role.
  • Previous QA related experience and automated warehouse experience is a must.
  • At least 3 to 5 years experience in apparel, Softhome and footwear manufacturing process.
  • High accountability and integrity.
  • Experience building and maintaining databases.
  • Management skills: able to make decisions.
  • Leadership skills: experience in technical staff to achieve quality excellence.
  • Knowledge of statistical quality control standard and application methods.
  • Knowledge in footwear production and some basic knowledge in footwear pattern making.
  • Ability to evaluate construction and workmanship of Sears's merchandise.
  • Know consumer product quality standards, and packing requirements.
  • Good judgment in determining quality problems and their causes, able to provide solutions.
  • Able to work effectively with all levels in a multi-cultural multi-national organization , and translate technical information to non-technical peopl e.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to work and interact with others.
  • Able to manage and coach team members.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
  • Able to understand and implement the SHC quality control manual.
  • Able to travel.
  • High sense of urgency.
