The Merchandise Manager-International is responsible for supporting the wide range of merchandising services to the Director, including product sourcing and development for multiple categories, price negotiations, liaise with Buyers and vendors, order processing, following up with re-orders, and manages a merchandising team for smooth departmental operations. The position provides analytical expertise and project management for initiatives related to worldwide vendor and product sourcing.

  • Devise strategies to source and develop private brand and VOB (vendor owned brand) products globally
  • Attend and participate in business trade shows
  • Source and develop strategic vendors which ensure increased value and long-term partnership benefits to the company
  • Collaborate with marketing department, developing strategies to increase sales at stores and dot.com business
  • Identify and recruit qualified vendors to meet and work with home office Production teams
  • Facilitate the onboarding and training of new vendors with all Sears Holdings requirements
  • Supervise vendors and helps coordinate with the company's Quality Assurance department
  • Lead and delegate team of merchandising associates to achieve company and department goals
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing in accordance with the challenges of a rapidly changing retail environment
  • Create and deliver formal presentations to executive level audiences
  • Display a clear understanding of the long-term and short-term merchandising strategies, market focus, vendor structure, and product assortment
  • Build and improve alignment with Logistics, Transportation, and Inventory for the strategies, goals, and objectives of these departments
  • Lead global souring activities of specific product categories through development of strategic vendor base to shorten delivery lead time at lowest price and proactively exploring potential new vendors. Evaluate potential new sourcing opportunities in different countries to drive competitive advantage of the organization.
  • Work closely with various counterparts including Costing Manager, Business Development Manager to identify opportunities to improve sourcing process and product specification for price negotiation and high quality of products through re-enginerring.
  • Manage Strategic Planning Development on full spectrum of specific products, strategic planning includes comparison and adjustment of sales forecast versus actual sales, boost for direct import, analysis of future market opportunities to make recommendation on business development plan.
  • Regularly provide market intelligence including but not limited to fashion trend, product technology, innovation to Buyers and introduce latest products to SHC associates through market research and trade fairs.
  • Ensure product quality as required by SHC corporate office and maintain good vendor relationships with SHC Sourcing Directors and Buyers.
  • Consolidate and adjust work schedule for buying teams / Sourcing Directors to make their trips reasonable and/or economical.
  • Supervise and train departmental associates to ensure the on-time shipment of excellent quality merchandise can be achieved.
  • Act as liaison and communication channel for internal and external parties. Ensure they fully understand and comply with company policies and systems under management directions.
  • Support Ad hoc assignments as necessary.
