About this job

As Culinary Supervisor you will oversee and participate in food plating and preparation for banquets. Prepare and organize menu ingredients for quick access during meal times. Prepare and plate salads, sandwiches, and entrees to order according to recipe, portion guides, and quality standards. Uphold service and product standards on a consistent basis. Anticipate and determine quantities of food and supplies needed to meet customer orders. Place orders as needed.

Requirements

Required:
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An equivalent combination of culinary education and related food service experience will be considered.  
  • Three years of food service production experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Stable work history or education history.
  • ServSafe certified or ability to obtain certification with university assistance within one year of beginning employment.
  • Competencies for this position are work standards and productivity, communication, interpersonal and intercultural relations, decision making, and dependability.     
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, perform basic math functions, lift and move up to 60 pounds; stand walk and stoop extensively.
  • Knowledge of sanitation.
  • Ability to meet daily deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds utilizing.

Preferred:

  • Hot food prep with meats and vegetable experience.

Additional Information:

  • This position requires the ability to work days, nights, and weekend as it relates to Purdue Dining & Catering.
  • Occasional overtime will be required based on business need.
