Job Summary

This position is "TEMPORARY."

AECOM is hiring qualified Automotive Painters on a temporary basis in support of USMC Depot Augmentation - Albany, GA.

Paint or remove paint from contract units in accordance with customer specifications. Understands and applies various corrosion control methods and technologies.

Coats surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin. or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices. Removes old paint using liquid paint remover and scraper or plastic/sand media blasting techniques. smoothes surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surfaces and provides corrosion control methods to customer specifications. Paints insignia, letters, or numbers on vehicle surfaces using stencils.

Paints and redecorates facilities, vehicles, equipment and fixtures. Work involves the following: Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for difference applications; preparing surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices; and applying paint with spray gun or brush. May mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency. In general, the work of the maintenance painter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Coats surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices.

2. Removes old paint using liquid paint remover and scraper or plastic/sand media blasting techniques.

3. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface and provides corrosion control methods to customer specifications.

4. Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted. Paints insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface, using stencils.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 40-45 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of recent full time verifiable painting experience in a transportation or industrial environment. Experience with overhaul depainting is also required. Must have normal color vision. Must be able to lift 40-45 pounds. Automotive and/or Industrial Painting experience is a requirement for this position.

2. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.

3. A PFT and Respirator Fit test is required; must be able to pass Government STAR4-D test.

4. Must be available for day or night shifts and willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.

5. Must have a valid Driver's License.

6. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

7. This position requires a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
