About this job

Provide clinical education and development throughout the St. Francis organization. Plans, organizes, directs, and oversees education services and development programs through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation. Work in collaboration with clinical managers and directors to effectively assess and implement educational initiatives for associates.

* Conduct learning needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools.

* Assist learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes.

* Incorporate principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs.

* Coordinate orientation of new staff to the organization.

* Plan, prepare and maintain materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience.

* Identify and evaluate instructional materials in all types of media and formats.

* Adjust content and teaching strategies for appropriate learner needs.

* Develop evidence-based educational materials.

* Supports staff development with educational activities to include remediation, certification, mentoring, disease specific education requirements, Joint Commission education requirements, competency assessment, product roll-outs, etc.

* Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programming; provide annual report on educational outcomes; identify improvements in patient outcomes as a direct result of meeting educational objectives.

* Prepare short and long term planning and programs to address identified needs.

* Teach content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.

* Serve as an educational consultant to nursing councils, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development.

* Consult with staff regarding individual learning needs.

* Facilitate the adult learning process, creating a climate which supports learning across the organization.

* Maintain flexibility when managing multiple projects and responsibilities.

Minimum Education:

Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN). Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Minimum Work Experience:

Two (2) years of acute care nursing experience, and two (2) years of adult education/training experience.

License(s) / Certification(s):

* Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Georgia.

* Currently certified through the American Heart Association to provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). CPR/BLS instructor certification is preferred.

* Certification as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor is preferred.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of media and technology in education and development.

* Knowledge of education techniques and a strong understanding of assigned clinical specialty.

* Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other media software.

* Knowledge of effective instructional methods and techniques used in assisting persons in the transfer of skills, knowledge, and understanding.

* Strong learning and planning skills.

* Excellent customer service skills.

* Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

* Excellent clinical and process research skills.

* Problem solving skills and the ability to analyze instructional situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action to obtain maximum learning.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide clear and concise documentation in accordance with established standards.

* Ability to utilize web based Content Management Systems to include such skills as embedding audio on the web.

* Ability to develop and implement ideas to improve process workflow.

* Ability to work collaboratively both internally and externally.

* Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, and willingness to travel to off-site locations.

* Ability to implement behavior modification techniques into practical situations.

* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.

* Ability to effectively use and operate audio-visual and other instructional equipment.

* Ability to design and implement training and learning curriculum.
