About this job

Serve in the general capacity of a helper and assist in the general maintenance of the organizations buildings, equipment, supply lines, and grounds.

* Perform simple manual tasks.

* Assist the Facility Mechanic in the general maintenance and repair of various organizational assets (i.e., building, grounds, or equipment).

* Perform minor repairs to building fixtures; touch-up painting, minor plumbing, simple woodwork, and the like.

* Assist in the dismantling, overhaul, repair, assembly, and installation of equipment.

* Follow the instructions and directions of the assigned Facility Mechanic or designee.

* Clean and prepare the worksite, and maintains equipment.

* Prepare equipment for use; transport equipment and return equipment to storage location.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or completion of GED equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience:

None. General maintenance experience as a helper or apprentice is preferred.

License(s) / Certification(s):

* None.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of basic tools and equipment and their functional use.

* Communication skills and the ability to articulate clearly using the English language.

* Problem resolution skills.

* Ability to be self-motivated.

* Ability to work assigned shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), and demonstrate flexibility.

* Ability to work a week/weekend on-call rotation schedule.

* Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

* Ability to read and write simple English.

* Ability to handle and utilize simple tools (i.e., hammer, saw, and ladder).

* Ability to follow directions as they are presented.

* Ability to abide by safety standards and protocols as described by a manufacturer, policy, or regulatory organization.

* Ability to apply force, lift, carry, and work in confined spaces.

* Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from peers.
