What is my job:

Our stores depend on the Handyman/Store Facilities Technician to keep the entire operation running smoothly and ensure a safe and clean working and shopping experience. In this role, you’ll work closely with the store and division maintenance team to execute vital preventative maintenance programs to ensure facility is facility is in good repair and equipment is running smoothly. Providing Incredible, Knowledge  Based Customer Service

  • Work with Store Maintenance and Store Leadership teams to execute a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for store equipment and facilities with high standards
  • Troubleshoot emergency Store Maintenance/Facilities issues and assist in coordinating and monitoring resources and resolutions
  • Inspect general interior and exterior building/equipment conditions
  • Perform simple repairs, replacements or maintenance on basic parts including (but not limited to) case doors, shelving, fixtures, ceiling and floor tiles, carts, racks,  gaskets, hinges, filters and basic plumbing/plumbing fixtures, and  restroom facilities in order to maintain the high standards of store condition/appearance
  • Perform basic painting/touching up of interior/exterior doors, office, walls, trim, etc.
  • Work with Store Leadership team to identify complex maintenance and facilities issues and coordinate with Store Maintenance group to provide necessary vendor resources
  • Assist with small in-house or divisional projects, as needed

    • Help reduce overall maintenance costs in the store by properly executing PM maintenance program
    • Help to monitor vendor activity and overall quality of results
    • Prioritize responsibilities and requests and attend to most critical tasks first to ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout the store
    • Properly handle products, equipment and tools; keep accurate logs and follows sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures
    • Work with Store Maintenance to maintain a safety focus by ensuring safety standards are followed
    • Ensure all equipment in the store is properly labeled with an asset tag and communicated to Store Maintenance
    • Create and complete work orders in EAM when repairs are performed (where applicable)
    • Complete additional tasks as needed

What skills, learnings, and experiences are required? 

  • 1 or more years of experience with mechanical/technical projects including home improvements, remodeling, general repair work and effective and safe use of power tools
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Work towards continuous improvement to encourage change; find ways to increase profitability and productivity; and improve processes, products & customer service in the department(s)
  • Use data analysis, wisdom, experience, judgment, and past actions as well as input from other sources for decision making, always considering the impact on customers, sales and contribution (profit)

What skills, learnings, and experiences are preferred and will set me apart? 

  • Working knowledge of EAM
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in a handyperson type role in a retail environment
  • Basic carpentry skills

Work environment: 

  • Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, lifting, bending and reaching
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 1 – 10 pounds with the maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely
  • Work is performed indoors with some exposure to seasonal outdoor temperatures and weather
  • May be exposed to various allergens
  • Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
  • Must be 18 years or older
