About this job

On behalf of Mathematica Policy Research, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Part Time Field Interviewers to conduct in-person interviews with the parents or guardians of school-age children. Part-Time Field Interviewers will work as employees of Headway Workforce Solutions on behalf of Mathematica Policy Research.

Mathematica Policy Research, a nationally recognized social policy research company, is conducting The Study of Non-Response to the School Meals Application Verification Process (AVNR). This study, contracted by the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service (USDA/FNS), will examine the accuracy of the current school meals verification process.

FNS administers several programs that provide healthy food to children to help combat childhood hunger and obesity. Two of the school meal programs, The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP), provide subsidized lunches and breakfasts to over 30 million students each school day.

Children in a household are “certified” to receive free or reduced-price meals through an application process or directly if their household participates in other assistance programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-formerly known as “food stamps”) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Each year, school districts are required to check a small number of these certifications to ensure families are receiving proper benefits, through a process known as “school meals verification.”

As a Part-Time Field Interviewer, you should live within a 50-mile radius of Manassas VA. Training will begin in mid-January 2018 with project work starting either in late January or February. Once work begins, the data collection process will last approximately 12 weeks depending on location and project needs.
