The Career Opportunity: Housekeeping Manager
Responsibilities:
- Supervises all Room Attendants to ensure maximum guest satisfaction.
- Monitors Housekeeping personnel to ensure guests receive prompt and courteous service.
- Monitors Housekeeping personnel to ensure rooms and, particularly, those ofCCF, known repeat guests, and other VIP's, receive special attention.
- Informs other operating departments of Housekeeping matters which concern them notably the Front Office, to ensure accurate room status in addition to communicating with Engineering, Laundry, and Food and Beverage.
- Establishes and maintains effective employee relations.
- Assists Director of Housekeeping in personnel related matters such as interviewing, appraising, and counseling.
- Identifies training needs, assists in developing formal training plans and implementing training sessions.
- Inspects rooms checked by Room Attendants, (Spot-check), and correct if necessary.
- Inspects guest rooms in all Housekeeping areas on a daily basis to ensure furnishings, facilities, and equipment are clean and in good repair, well maintained and replace/refurbish as required. Makes recommendations to Director of Housekeeping.
- Maintains appropriate standards of conduct, dress, hygiene, uniforms, appearance and conduct of departmental employees.
- Conducts regular meetings with subordinates.
- Follow up on progress of agenda items covered in regular meetings.
- Ensures Housekeeping personnel are familiar with in-house facilities for the purpose of assisting guests.
- Assists in ordering, monitoring and controlling, on an on-going basis, departmental costs to ensure performance against budget.
- Assists with the monitoring and controlling the inventories of operating equipment, linen and uniforms to ensure par stocks are maintained and costs are controlled.
- Maintains a steady flow of communication to the Director of Housekeeping on all matters affecting the Housekeeping Department.
- Assists in the preparation of the Hotels Strategic Plan and Goals Program.
- Assists in the preparation of the Housekeeping Departmental Budget.
- Assists with outside contractors to ensure contractual compliance.
- Assists in the development, controlling and monitoring of Housekeeping procedures including lost and found, key control, security and emergency procedures, health and safety for employees and guests.
- Is a visible management presence throughout the hotel.
- Acts on behalf of the Director and Assistant Director in their absence as required.
- Supervises day to day operations of the Housekeeping Department.
- Performs selected Housekeeping administration duties.
- Is prepared to implement assigned tasks during emergencies such as fires, power cuts, and bomb threats.
- Prepares Housekeeping work schedule.
- Checks F&B outlet prior to opening.
