This position will provide strategic human resource support to company personnel at the Chapel Hill and Fayetteville Distribution Centers. This includes but not limited to employee relations, talent acquisition, retention and compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws. This job requires a high level of confidentially both internal and external.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with business partners including warehouse staff
- Coach supervisors on employee relations matters including displinary actions
- Research compensation data annually and determine necessary changes to ensure competitive salary wages at the D.C.
- Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, and harassment allegations
- Conducts internal investigations and recommends displinary action when appropriate
- Responsible for recruiting efforts to include, but not limited to job fairs, local agencies that assist with employment, and staffing agencies including negotiating mark ups
- Responsible for the new hire process to include job posting, interviewing, and on-boarding
- Ensures compliance with company policies, local, state, and federal employment laws, fair employment practices, and compensation and benefits. Stays abreast of changes in the industry, laws, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Coordinates the grievance process between employee and management
- Manage discrimination claims, and workers compensation claims
- Respond to unemployment claims and represent company in hearings when applicable
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field
- 2 - 4 years’ experience as a HR Generalist or HRBP
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems and issues by using judgment that is in consistent standards to practices, policies, procedures, regulations, or government laws
- Strong people skills with an emphasis on listening
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervisor
- Knowledge of applicable employment laws
- Computer proficiency to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Internet applications
- Detail oriented
- Travel required between facilities
