This position performs independent duties and responsibilities assisting the Environmental Manager in providing/performing analysis and research on a variety of administrative functions for Environmental Health. Duties involve independent work assisting the Environmental Manager to facilitate the effective operations of the Environmental Health department and the Hernando County Health Department.

Responsible for composing and typing correspondence as requested by the Environmental Manager. Investigates routine subject matters, prepares special reports and legal notices according to policies and procedures. Responsible for monitoring and processing legal notices according to established policies. Utilizes computer for the creation of all correspondence and documents. Maintains documents within the computer and electronic files, retrieving and/or printing documents as requested/required.

Responsible for assisting in conducting and facilitating of daily administrative duties and special projects as assigned by the Environmental manager. Responsible for preparing permits, logs and files for permitted operations, i.e., Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System (OSTDS) permits, Food Establishments, Mobile Home and RV Parks, Swimming Pools and Bathing Places, Biomedical Waste, Tanning Facilities and Tattoo Artists and Establishments. Responsible for entering OSTDS permit numbers in the plat book as permanent records.

Maintains current department policies and procedures as found in the Department Rules and Regulations and Florida Statutes. Processes routine subject matters within established policies. Researches information requested by the Environmental Manager and prepares response documents as requested.

Reviews reports received by the Environmental Manager. Coordinates completion dates of assigned projects. Performs special assignments, researches information and prepares reports for review.

Inventories all Environmental Health forms and supplies; orders as needed and/or requested. Assigned purchasing card responsibilities. Prepares and processes purchase requisitions for commodities and services using MyFlorida Marketplace.

Attends training seminars, classes and training as they become available to maintain current on all policies and procedures. Assures confidentiality of information contained in correspondence and memoranda typed for the Environmental Health section. Reports breaches of security to supervisor. Performs other related duties as requested/required.

Responsible for securing the designated information set for the purposes of protecting confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access, for all information, both confidential and public record, which is stored in hard copy or electronic formats.
