POSITION PURPOSE -
This position manages people and processes related to the development of advanced analytics to support the company’s strategic objectives.  This role also works closely with the Director of Decision Analytics in defining the analytical strategy and approach for projects and processes.  The role works cross-functionally with business partners from Merchandising, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Online and IT to design and implement data analytics, tools, and new visibility/reporting capabilities. This role has responsibility for creating analytics, translating business questions to actionable insights, supporting ongoing analytical needs, designing new analytical platforms, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality analytics solutions for the Home Depot. This role is expected to leverage effective storytelling skills to translate complex analyses into understandable insights, with a passion to learn and develop.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business partners, colleagues, developers, and business analysts to understand business problem and deliver high quality analytics solutions
  • Project management - Leads, plans, and coordinates work teams in an efficient manner to effectively execute analytical projects or processes
  • Storytelling and advanced problem solving based on analytics with large volumes of data
  • Enhancements / modifications to systems and procedures


NATURE AND SCOPE -

  • Typically reports to Director of Decision Analytics
  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a project or the coordination of multiple work groups.
  • Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
  • Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
  • Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area.
  • Under constant pressure to continuously meet tight deadlines and/or must regularly deal with difficult situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 6 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • · Master’s degree in Analytics, Finance, or Information Systems or related field is preferred.
  • · Eight or more years of experience in analytics is preferred.
  • · Experience in SQL, SAS, Tableau, R, python and similar tools preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Thorough working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal accounting controls
Knowledge of business and management. Principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation.
Ability to develop and implement strategies that support the objectives of the company
Ability to lead and develop subordinates
Able to effectively communicate with all departments and levels of associates through both verbal and written methods
Critical thinking skills; using logic to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, applying general rules to specific problems.
