Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI is currently seeking a Lead Direct Support Professional to join our team at the Janesville Enrichment Center.  This program provides community based and in-center supports for older adults and individuals with disabilities.  The programs include supervised group activities, time to socialize with peers, a healthy meal, health monitoring and assistance with daily living such as eating or personal cares. 

 NO CNA LICENSE REQUIRED!  NO WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS!

The Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) will work with the program supervisor to facilitate Meaningful Day (Person Center Planning) for individual’s in-program and in the community.  The Lead DSP will work to promote independence and community inclusion of individuals served through creative planning, professional teamwork and networking.  The Lead DSP will work with program supervisor and individuals (caregivers, guardians, case managers) to find the persons unique gifts and talents which will be promoted both in program and/or in the community. The Lead will also assist the Program Supervisor with limited administrative duties & maintenance of the program. NO CNA LICENSE REQUIRED.

Hours include are Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM - 4:15 PM.

 

Essential Duties/responsibilities:

  • Serves as a lead worker, directing & reviewing the work of others including training new staff members, scheduling coverage, & coordinating staff meetings.
  • Provides administrative support to the program by maintaining a program appointment calendar, screening telephone calls, preparing expense vouchers, accounting for funds, paying bills, monitoring & requesting maintenance of the program, & addressing safety within the program.
  • Assists individuals in performing personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, recreational activities, obtaining appropriate health care, & community involvement.
  • Performs general housekeeping, laundry, & outdoor maintenance duties.
  • Transports & accompanies individuals to meetings, services, appointments, & other activities.
  • Provides independent skills training for individuals consistent with goals outlined in individual service plans.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 
Graduation from high school or GED equivalency is preferred.  One (1) year of work experience, preferably working with individuals with disabilities, aging and/or vocational rehab. 
 
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
The employee of this position may be required to have a valid Driver’s License and car – Motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record required. Must pass a Caregiver Background Check according to program regulations and LSS best practice. First Aid training, and CPR Certificate (when required) preferred but may be obtained after hire.
 
 
TRAVEL:
