The Leadership Development Program, Associate Production Supervisor is a two year development experience for individuals seeking manufacturing leadership positions within Schwan’s Global Supply Chain. The program provides an interactive blend of learning activities that will ultimately prepare participants for a leadership role in a manufacturing facility. Throughout the program, the participant will go through a series of rotations that will provide hands-on learning experiences in production and all major manufacturing functions; as well as extensive leadership training that will teach them to become effective people leaders. At the completion of the program, participants will be ready to take on a Supervisor of Production role
LDP, Associate Production Supervisor
Program Overview:
Phase 1: Learning the Business
  • Building an understanding of the overall business and manufacturing /supply chain operations by meeting with business leaders across the organization and shadowing key roles in manufacturing facilities
  • Participating in multiple manufacturing rotations (ex. Maintenance, Sanitation, Food Safety & Quality) to learn about all essential functions of a manufacturing facility in order to better understand how functions are interrelated and how to effectively partner to lead efficient operations
  • Running a small production line under direct supervision of an experienced leader where you will:
    Review and examine production systems to ensure that production line meets quality standards
    • Monitor production equipment and reports failures to maintenance personnel
    • Seek to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times
    • Ensure that all line employees comply with the company’s safety policies and procedures
Phase 2: Leadership Fundamentals
  • Building and applying people leadership and business management skills and concepts to learn to effectively operate the business
  • While building people leadership skills under the guidance of a mentor you will:
    • Effectively lead, motivate and develop a production team
    • Participate in talent selection and training of new employees
    • Model and drive accountability of safe behaviors by coaching team members and by identifying and removing risks
    • Effectively cascading key messages on areas of focus and strategic priority for the business and helping the team through changes
  • Participating in formal leadership and management training
  • Completing two capstone presentations demonstrating knowledge acquired and results delivered during the Leadership Development Program
  • Presenting a final capstone project to a group of Schwan’s Global Supply Chain leaders at the completion of the program.
