Join our entrepreneurial team of professionals as we continue our pursuit of excellence at our newest hotel development, the JW Marriott in Downtown Nashville.  The impressive JW Marriott Nashville will rise on the highest elevation points of the city and be one of the tallest buildings in Nashville.  With 533 guestrooms and 50,000 sq. ft. of meeting space this newest addition to Music City™s skyline will enhance and elevate Nashvilles appeal to business and leisure travelers alike.  Scheduled to open in 2018, the hotel will also feature Bourbon Steak House by Michael Mina, a full service Starbucks, a Lobby Café and 3-Meal Restaurant.

JW Marriott is part of Turnberry Associates. Turnberry Associates has built over 20 million square feet of retail space, more than 7,000 luxury condominium and condo-hotel units, 1.5 million square feet of class office space, in excess of 2,000 hotel and luxury resort rooms, as well as a number of exciting new projects currently in various phases of development.

Position is based in Nashville. 

Position Overview

Responsible for strategic direction, management and top-line revenues for the Catering and Convention Services Departments. Responsible for working directly with the Director of Food & Beverage in creating clear and credible vision for the department, understands customer mix and aligns human resources, structures and systems to achieve strategic goals and maximize revenues.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate sales efforts Sales Department and Catering/Convention Services
  • The ability to strategically direct and maintain the sales process with the Director of Catering Sales
  • Incorporates marketing initiatives to support sales strategies and activities
  • Knowledgeable of hotel's competitive set and recommends sales/pricing strategies, service and product improvements/up sell strategies to stay competitive
  • Active participation in the sales lead/revenue generating process for the department
  • Work with Executive Chef and Director of Catering Sales to create and maintain menus and other marketing materials
  • Creation of Annual Budget for Catering and Convention department 
  • Writes Annual/Quarterly Marketing Plans with Director of Catering Sales 
  • Review costing policy with Executive Chef to ensure maximizing profitability
Supervisory Functions
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and training to the team
  • Continually assess strengths/challenges of catering/catering services team members
  • Conducts Annual Reviews of catering/private dining team
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment for co-workers and a safe hotel for guests
  • Qualifications, Job Knowledge, Experience, Skills, Abilities 
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.

OR

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years’ experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
