Our Exciting Work Environment

Located next to Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon Park is composed of two distinct areas – Grant Grove (home to the General Grant tree, also known as "the Nation's Christmas Tree") and Cedar Grove. Grant Grove visitors snap photos and marvel at the sheer size of the sequoia grove.  Kings Canyon is also home to Redwood Canyon, the largest remaining grove of sequoia trees in the world. 

 

 

Responsibilities
 
• Follow all Delaware North Parks and Resorts Environmental GreenPath, GuestPath, OSS, SERV, Code of Conduct, Core Values, Policies and Procedures and NPS Guidelines.
 
• Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
 
• Roll silverware, set up side stations or food preparation areas or set up dining areas to prepare for the shift or for large parties.
 
• Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
 
• Assist restaurant hosts by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
 
• Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
 
• Knowledge of and description capabilities of wines, beer, spirits and other beverage options to guests. Knowledge of wine and beer pairings.
 
•Check guests identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
 
• Prepare all nonalcoholic hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests.
 
• Bring beverage and/or wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for guests.
 
• Inform guests of daily specials.
 
• Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
 
• Take orders from guests for food or beverages.
 
• Write guests food orders on order slips and enter them into the POS system.
 
• Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
 
• Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
 
• Serve food or beverages to guests, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
 
• Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
 
• Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, take them to kitchen for cleaning.
 
• Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes, collect payments from customers.
 
• Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining.
 
• Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash.
 
• Fill salt, pepper, sugar, condiments, and napkin containers.
 
• Have complete knowledge of all menus and restaurant hours of operations, including general hotel information and local area information.
 
• Perform table side service.
 
• Complete knowledge and ability to to follow all Universal Service Standards and Operational Service Standards.
 
• Complete knowledge of PCI/CEG compliance.
 
• Greet and welcome guests with a smile and positive attitude, suggesting specials and menu items. Up selling at all opportunities.
 
• Knowledge of how to operate POS system.
 
• Responsible for all opening and closing side work.
 
• Responsible for completing paperwork and tip declarations according to IRS standards.
 
• Knowledge of "Big 8" food allergens and menu items they are in.
 
• All other duties as assigned by Managers and Supervisors.

Qualifications
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED):
 
Preferred Experience: 1 plus years of experience in Serving in a similar environment
 
Computer Skills: Must be able to utilize a POS System. Must be able to type using keyboard within POS System.
 
Certifications & Licenses: Must be able to provide California Food Handlers Card and provide TIPS Certification Card. (within two weeks of hire)
 
Other Requirements: Cross train in numerous positions as to fill any voids throughout the food and beverage division when needed. Attend all departmental meetings. Take ownership of any request from any manager or supervisor.
 
HIRING WILL BEGIN IN MARCH AND CONTINUE THRU THE SEASON. WITH ALL SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT ENDING IN OCTOBER
