K-VA- T Food Stores is the parent company of Food City, a highly successful regional grocery retail
operation, headquartered in the beautiful and historic town of Abingdon, VA. Food City is currently
looking for Bakery-Deli Helpers to join our team at various store locations. The successful candidate, will
have a desire to work in a fast-paced food service environment while providing Food City customers
with exceptional service. He/She will prepare all food items to company specifications while
demonstrating Food City’s mission to “Run the Best Store in Town”.
About the job:
Bakery-Deli Helpers are responsible for preparing various food items to customer specifications, slicing
meats and cheeses, and merchandising, while ensuring company product standards and food safety
guidelines. Candidates are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the
quality of all Bakery-Deli products while continuously working with fellow associates to provide a clean
and safe working environment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
? Must be able to resolve differences through diplomatic means
? Flexibility in work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
? Must have excellent problem solving skills
? Must be able to lead by example to give Food City customers their best shopping experience
? Must be able to work effectively under strict deadlines and thrive in a fast paced environment
? Ability to work as part of a team and interact with various levels of company representatives,
customers, and vendors
? Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and
repetitive tasks
? Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours in the typical work week, as well as
extra time as needed to fulfill job duties
