Davenport Setup & Operator

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION

Machine Shop/ Fenton, MO

REPORTS TO:

Production Supervisor, Machine Shop

POSITION SUMMARY:

Set-Up/Operator position responsible for machining of components using Davenport multi-spindle screw machines while following the documented procedures, including safety procedures. Will be responsible for the quality of parts produced. Assists in the instruction of set-up, operators, and operator trainees. Diagnose, troubleshoot and make adjustments. May be assigned to remove and/or replace worn or defective parts. Must have the fundamental tools to safely and effectively perform the job.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Must be able to set up, operate and adjust Davenport screw machine

· Requires the use of precision measuring devices

· Must be able to work from drawings with minimum instruction and supervision

· Required to set and sharpen tools, and set up cams and stock stops

· Troubleshoot machines, set speeds, and feeds for proper materials and do minor repairs as needed

· Responsible for the quality of parts produced

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

· High school diploma/ GED preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with operating a Davenport Machine or other multi-spindle screw machine

· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with setting-up a Davenport Machine or other multi-spindle screw machine

REQUIRED SKILLS:

· Strong math skills and ability to read blueprints, work instructions, SOP’s, and other technical information in English.

· Must be able to lift 35lbs. on a regular basis

· Must be able to monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to be sure the machine is working properly and use proper precision measuring devices

· Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities

· Must be self-directed and take initiative to learn new skills relating to the maintenance of the machine

DESIRED SKILLS:

· Possess a hands-on style with strong mechanical aptitude

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Will be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, oils, and chemicals in a loud manufacturing environment

· Will be standing on concrete the entire shift
