Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Stewarding Manager, the Steward is responsible for operating all dishwashing equipment to sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, pots, pans, glass, cutlery, removal of garbage, etc. The Steward is accountable for maintaining a high standard of sanitation of all kitchen equipment, and for keeping breakage to a minimum.
* Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
* Comply at all times with Fairmont standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
* Follow all sanitation standards
* Wash all dishes, pots, pans, glasses and cutlery according to Fairmont standards
* Hand wash pots and pans as needed
* Operate the dish machine in the prescribed manner
* Re-stock all clean equipment, pots, pans, etc. in designated area
* Thoroughly clean and wash all kitchen equipment, hoods, storerooms, hallways, dock, machines, floors, and walk-ins
* Empty trash and wash cans
* Report any faulty equipment immediately
* Assist with inventory counts of china, glass, silver and other equipment
* Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Previous experience is not required
* Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
* Highly responsible & reliable
* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
* Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
* Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Physical Aspects of Position:
Physical aspects of the position include but are not limited to the following:
* Constant standing and walking throughout shift
* Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
* Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
* Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
