Purchasing Coordinator

The Purchasing Coordinator will support the Supply Chain Department in ensuring the management teams of all domestic Shake Shacks, including franchise and licensed locations, have the information needed to open and operate while meeting the goals and vision of the Supply Chain Department Mission Statement.

This is a New York City based entry level position at our corporate headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure all new Supply Chain Department suppliers are properly onboarded into Shake Shack Enterprises corporate systems. 

  • Product life cycle management, so that new and existing products can be optimally integrated into the supply chain and an assured supply regime is developed.
  • Inform suppliers by providing actual purchasing numbers and projected purchasing numbers to maintain agreed upon raw and produced inventory levels to meet current demands and future growth. 
  • Alert suppliers of change in ingredient usage and purchasing habits to meet new location needs.
  • Alert suppliers of new products and/or special ingredient needs for LTO items.
  • Assist on supply chain issues, out of stocks and service down times.
  • Assist with Quality Assurance Coordinator on product recalls and food safety issues.
  • Recommend inventory levels & complementary replenishment policies.

Ensure Shake Shack managers have the information necessary to effectively order and restock all items specified by the Supply Chain Department.

  • Ensure that the opening checklist is utilized and timeline met through communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist   with performing program management responsibilities for new product, custard calendar and LTO launch with cross-functional teams.
  • Work with Training Department to maintain information on internal Shacksource site as it pertains new and/or changing products, procedures and standards.

Ensure newly approved food, beverage and non-food items are smoothly integrated into the supply chain for new Shake Shack locations.

  • Support supply and material procurement, ensure product availability for existing and new Shacks, by developing sales forecasting cycles based on Shack development plans, sales history, season trends, product range, marketing trends & promotions.
  • Monitor and report food, beverage and disposable price fluctuation.
  • Maintain and track contract prices for pricing compliance.
  • Sourcing planning, including current inventory and forecast demand, in collaboration with all suppliers and distributors as needed for expansion.

Ensure supply chain information is analyzed to support development plans.

  • Monitor purchases to ensure all locations have adequate inventory levels for forecasted business.
  • Understand the impact of potential customer demand in new regions to ensure proper inventory levels.
  • Assist Purchasing Team with information on potential Custard Calendar or LTO product overstock issues.
  • Support tracking and communication of product issues and associated supplier claims.

Other information: This position, on occasion, requires sampling a wide variety of different food and beverage items to aid in our ingredient decisions.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
  • Understanding of foodservice distribution.
  • Must be very adept and intelligent with all Microsoft suite software.

Experience:

  • Foodservice purchasing or supply chain experience a plus.
