The Director Production directs the Production staff on short and long-term planning, deployment of resources, budgeting and expense control, and implementation of operational policies, programs, and systems of Production. This position develops and maintains a vendor matrix to produce and ship quality and value-oriented private brand product for both Sears and Kmart.
  • The Director, Production provides leadership to the Global Production/Sourcing team to source direct import merchandise for all SHC formats.


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identifies and develops vendors with an overall development, production and quality strategy, developing a diversified country of origin production strategy intertwined with a vendor strategy that mitigates risk while maximizing margin return relative production and related supply chain costs and developing vertical resources where possible to improve value and reduce timeline.
  • Works with Design and Tech Design to determine product development specifications and details on cost and quality related choices for product components and production techniques, and has development samples made to the PLM tech pack specifications with vendor's production capabilities as a priority.
  • Designates which vendors are best suited to deliver the quality levels and specification of Design, as well as have the production resources to hit the Buyer's in-store dates.
  • Resolves production issues and problems to ensure on-time production and delivery of quality products.
  • Create & implement seasonal time & action calendar. Provide in-process sample development & production status updates, highlighting potential issues and providing solutions.
  • Interfaces with Quality Assurance and Design to ensure final product samples meet specifications.
  • Provides feedback to Buying and Design on relevant product issues, such as production techniques that impact styling, delivery changes or changes that impact cost.
  • Develops and maintains vendor relationships and country of origin production strategies, and manages vendor usage to ensure high quality, consistency, production space, and flexibility.
  • Researches competitor's vendor and production strategies, and investigates new sourcing opportunities and new development and production processes.
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to: making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting, and terminating; conducting performance appraisals; and coaching and developing associates.
