Basic Function
Drury Hotels designed an internship program to give students an opportunity to complete their education with career related experience. The program helps prepare students to work effectively in the business world after graduation. Gaining real world experience and also helps to students make career choices, which will result in higher job satisfaction and higher productivity.
Drury's internship program is a full-time or part-time paid program that accommodates students' credit needs and flexible schedules. Students can either attend class during the day and work at night or attend evening classed and work full or part-time during the day.
Our program is structured and the assignments provide learning objectives with experience and opportunity to develop valuable challenges for students to gain practice work in their chosen career field. To identify strength and weakness, constructive feedback is given to students during performance evaluations.
Job Duties
Drury internship program rotates students though all the departments of the hotel: Front Desk, Night Audit, Breakfast, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance.
Students shadow management and Sales and Marketing.
Vacations can be built in but is optional for students
General Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Requires bright and energetic students pursing a degree in a hospitality field.
Requires good communications skills to relate to guests and employees.
Requires ability perform positive and effectively.
Requires the ability to give attention to detail.
Requires provide owns housing and transportation
Mental and Physical Requirements
EDUCATION: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent of a college student, must be at least eighteen years of age, must maintain a 2.0 GPA or better in the major, have a valid driver's license.
EXPERIENCE: Must be enrolled in an accredited hospitality program and have completed 1 year of general studies, demonstrated ability to perform basic leadership and business practices.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Requires ability to walk and stand during periods of 3 to 4 hours; requires ability to lift 20 to 30 pounds intermittently during the work period.
