Job Overview:

As a Technical Lead, you will lead a team responsible for helping develop and validate Macy’s and Bloomingdales Bag to Checkout flow using in-house tools, open source solutions and data analytics to evolve the test strategy and execution. You will be primarily expected to create Test Automation Strategies and plans; lead the development of Feature Files, Java framework improvements, Page Object, SOAPUI, Junit; execute test cases; maintain documentation of results; and work closely with development engineers to resolve discrepancies. You will lead software QE team comprised of onshore and offshore quality engineers. As part of the QE team, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. You will also be expected to help with development activities such as coding, debugging, unit tests, etc as needed by the project. This position requires an individual with leadership skills who is creative, team-oriented, a quick learner and driven to produce results. This position does not include supervisory (HR-related) responsibilities; it focuses on project related responsibilities and initiatives to develop machine learning based test operations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Design process of development as well as testing for large-scale, ecommerce web applications, tools, and/or software
• Design and develop solid test software using test frameworks such as JUnit/TestNG, Jasmine, and Selenium
• Perform low-level unit testing, to high-level functional, web services (REST, SOAP) and system testing
• Hands-on coding of development related tasks if needed
• Measure and improve test coverage using code coverage tools
• Continuously executing the tests in a CI environment to catch regression issues
• Diagnose and trouble shooting of complex software
• Create high quality defect reports
• Improve, optimize, and identify opportunities for improved software development lifecycle
• Evaluate new tools / products in support of changing business need
• Hands-on system design and development as needed
• Hands-on mentoring of the team
• Passion for product quality
• Consistently demonstrates regular, dependable attendance & punctuality

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• 3+ years as a technical lead in a web environment

• 8+ years Java/J2EE full life cycle development experience and understanding of SQA methodologies

• 5+ years experience with hands-on coding and development required

• 5+ years Unit Testing experience, behavioral driven and test driven development and continuous integration experience with the ability to lead a team in these areas

• 5+ years experience with automated test frameworks (i.e.: TestNG, Junit)

• 5+ years experience with test automations tools (i.e.: Cucumber, Selenium)

• Agile experienced

• Strong hands-on programming skills in Java, Ruby, JavaScript and data formats XML/JSON/YAML

• Knowledge of SQL, relational databases like Oracle/DB2 and NoSQL technologies like Cassandra, HBase

• Proficiency in a Unix/Linux environment

• Experience testing on Desktop as well as mobile platforms

• Experience with CI system like Jenkins and source control systems like SVN, GIT

• Experience of configuration, deployment and tuning of web application into J2EE containers like JBoss, WebSphere. Tomcat

• Knowledge of SQL, relational databases like Oracle/DB2 and NoSQL technologies like Cassandra, HBase

• Experience working with and tuning high volume web applications a strong plus

• Able to effectively communicate across teams and roles

• Excellent, clear and effective verbal and written communication required which influences and drives collaboration across teams and builds solid partnerships

Reasoning Ability:

• Demonstrable ability to deliver projects on time, with high quality, and within budget

• Strong estimating and planning skills

• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Demands:

• This position involves regular ambulating, sitting, hearing, and talking

Other Skills:

• Strong leadership qualities and excellent negotiation skills
