Responsibilities: Schedules appointments and coordinates creation of patient appointment itinerary in a complex multispecialty medical practice. Includes processing and scheduling appointment requests for all areas of the institution as they are received from patients, Mayo staff, and external referring physicians via direct face-to-face contact with patient, telephone call center, or online request. Must accurately determine from the information provided the nature of the patient's problem, the appropriate clinical area for evaluation, and the urgency of the appointment. In addition, must obtain or verify patient demographics, medical insurance information, and properly advise patients regarding the need for co-payments, referral authorizations and/or pre-service deposits based on information received. Accurately schedules the correct appointment (office visits, tests, procedure) and/or routes the caller to the appropriate clinical area for further scheduling. Position requires application of complex scheduling rules and ability to interpret rules and adjust schedules based on patient convenience, multiple campuses, and unique situations. Individual must be able to multi-task and toggle between multiple electronic applications for creation of an itinerary serving the best needs of the patient. In Transplant, may participate in rotating weekend on-call schedule.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required.

Associate Degree preferred.

Prior customer service required, preferably in a complex/multi-tasking environment or call center.

Prior computer experience required, preferably in an electronic scheduling environment with multiple applications.

Requires strong customer service and oral communication skills.

Computer literacy required (Windows, Word, Outlook).

Able to work independently with minimal direction.

Able to handle multiple tasks and meet daily deadlines.

Additional Qualifications: Two years of experience in healthcare and medical terminology preferred. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $18.15 per hour.
