Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under limited supervision, drives the category strategies and tactics; manages the development, optimization and execution of new and existing food, beverage and dietary supplement products from marketing ideation through commercialization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for product development activities from competitive analysis, ideation, regulatory, commercialization and optimization. Works closely with Food Development partner companies on the ideation and development of new products.
  • Executes the ongoing strategy of launching products that drives client satisfaction and retention at optimum price and margin requirements.
  • Exhibits strong passion and interest in cuisine.
  • Drives awareness of market trends across appropriate health, wellness, weight loss product categories to ensure initiatives incorporates trends and market data to support and maximize client satisfaction, retention and revenue.
  • Works cross-functionally with Co-manufacturers, Program Development, Operations, Creative Services, Purchasing, and Supply Chain resources to ensure successful implementation of product strategies and tactics.
  • Develops and maintains product and packaging specifications and other technical supporting documentation/databases for new and existing products.
  • Develops and maintains all collateral material related to new food ingredients, allergens, ingredient sensitivities and nutrition required to assist field and corporate operations.
  • Researches and supports implementation of new food manufacturing, ingredient and packaging technologies in collaboration with contract manufacturers that support innovation/renovation objectives.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance of products; ensures regulated features of products and packaging with applicable labeling, trade mark and nutrition regulations and laws.
  • Develops and manages execution and analysis of internal and external sensory evaluations and consumer research.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Operations and Training team to develop product promotions for successful marketing campaigns.
  • Leverage retail best practices to guarantee product content is most effective in communicating value, benefit and support to our clients and consultants.
  • Provides ongoing reporting information regarding product sales, financials, trends, opportunities to improve client retention and increase revenue through optimized products
  • Responsible for creating and supporting a positive, professional, team-oriented, harassment-free work environment by understanding and complying with the Company’s policies, by demonstrating the Company’s values, and being a role model for the Company

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.A. or B.S. degree in food science, nutrition, chemistry or related field, MS preferred.
  • Minimum 4-6 years’ experience in product development/R&D within food manufacturing organization.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience managing projects and resources.
  • Experience managing product development, pricing and profitability.
  • Strong project management and organization skills, flexible, ability to work on multiple projects with various priorities and timelines.
  • Knowledge of consumer buying trends within the retail food and product sectors.
  • Optimize product pricing subject to company objectives/constraints such as revenue, market share, and margin.
  • Expertise in formulation and processing of food products.
  • Must have strong business, mathematical, technical and business reasoning skills and working knowledge of pricing and costs.
  • Knowledge and experience in food manufacturing processes.
  • High initiative, strong organizational skills, must be self-directing, able to work cross-functionally with different groups and achieve high results.
  • Highly innovative, creative and results oriented
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project and database management such as Access.
  • Able to maintain confidential and proprietary information and material.
  • Ability to be an effective team player.
  • Knowledge of NFP and label development
  • Ability to taste and articulate various food products
