Role Summary

The Shipping Coordinator position oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of shipments. The person filling this position is responsible for preparing documentation, maintaining records and coordinating the logistics of product shipment and serves as an internal/external contact for the company. This position will show leadership in areas of Lean Manufacturing, KAIZEN, ISO quality systems, innovation and current systems technology.

Successful candidates will:

  • Supervise and coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments including moving product, ensure accurate inventory tracking and prepare items for shipment.
  • Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving area to storage and work areas.
  • Work closely with teams/departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of Shipping operations.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for Shipping and Fulfillment operations.
  • Study shipping notices, promise slips, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods, required to meet shipping schedules.
  • Track inventories of finished goods to ensure accurate counts and availability of materials. Assist with month and yearly inventory counts.

  • Must be a good team player, detail-oriented, and good at multi-tasking.
  • Must possess good computer skills including ability to learn new computer systems (i.e. UPS software).
  • Able to understand and help further enhance current business systems, processes, and work-flows.
  • Must have good math, reading, writing skills, and have the ability to tactfully communicate to customers and employees of all levels of the company.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities.
  • Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of people inside and outside the organization, including possessing good English speaking skills, fluency and understandability.
  • Detail-oriented, organized and applies effective time management skills in order to meet all deadlines. Able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and numerous projects in a fast-paced environment.

Education, Experience and Credentials

  • High School degree or equivalent and 1+ years of related experience with shipping and receiving operations required.
  • Prior experience operating warehouse equipment, such as a fork lift and electric pallet jack, is required.
  • Must be willing to become certified/complete safety training for industrial truck use.
  • Previous experience with UPS, FedEx, and third-party transportation management software preferred.
  • Perform heavy work: lifting up to 60 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 100+ pounds, frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
