Position Summary:
The Clinical Assistant works directly under the supervision of a Registered Nurses and according to defined policies and procedures, performs various service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment. Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required.
Position Expectations and Responsibilities:
* Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Nursing, and Boca Raton Regional Hospital.
* Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationship with patients, families, visitors and Boca Regional employees.
* Ability to read, write and speak English in order to transcribe and communicate approved provider's orders at a level normally acquired through a high school education.
* Have knowledge of accucheck machine and process for obtaining patient glucose levels
* Assist with transportation of patients and equipment as needed.
* Assist with obtaining, maintaining and stocking supplies and equipment as directed.
* Complete all necessary documentation, department logs and reports.
* Assist the nurse with admitting patients
* Have skills and assist patients with activities of daily living and personal care needs
* Have knowledge of simple wounds and application of dressings
Minimum Qualifications:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
* CNA license, PCT certification, LPN license OR
* Completion of first semester of an accredited RN program.
* BLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
* Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
* 1-2 years acute care experience preferred.
