Position Description
The Maintenance and Engineering Manager will support capital projects and provide all technical leadership at the plant from idea generation and concepts through exploration of options and technologies. The Manager will also be the on-site authority on the Waste Water Treatment Plant operations.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute in development of short range and long-range capital plans for facility
  • Manage capital projects and supervise contractors with assigned project responsibilities
  • Ensure outside contractors are properly trained and follow GLC policies
  • Coordinate with maintenance department the needs of GLC resources for projects
  • Manage emerging issues and changes from suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Provide technical expertise for investigation and resolution of process deviations, development and interpretation of data trending, review and approval of change controls and preparation of regulatory filings
  • Maintain full working knowledge of Waste Water Treatment Plant facility and process
  • Provide technical guidance and support to ensure WWTP systems are operating within design parameters and regulatory ranges
  • Provide correction action plan when system parameters are trending out of normal ranges, and follow through with monitoring results of intervention plan
  • Perform root-cause investigations, identify cost savings opportunities and drive process efficiency
  • Understand line layouts and support plant requests for design changes
  • Provide process subject matter expertise for regulatory inspections and other interactions with regulatory agencies
  • Participate in the preparation of regulatory filing documents and inspection readiness
  • Understanding of environmental impact and related regulatory processes, pertinent local, State and Federal laws, use permits and regulations
  • Lead cross-functional team for new product start-ups or other process changes
  • Direct department activities to modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies, which may improve operations, and develop recommendations accordingly
  • Ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner

    Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelora??s degree in Engineering or commensurate experience
  • 8 yrs of experience in the food industry or more
    Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
  • OSHA 10hr Safety Certification
  • SAP experience
  • Working knowledge of WWTP operations (w/digester experience)
  • Strong technical, managerial and leadership skills
  • In depth knowledge of food processing and packaging including sanitary design and SQF requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong demonstrated project engineering and project management skills taking from concept development to start up
  • Strong problem solving and hands on trouble shooting skills
  • Attention to detail on multiple simultaneous tasks
    Working Conditions
  • Work is performed both in an office environment and in manufacturing facilities
  • Occasional exposure to industrial operations including temperature extremes from approximately 35A?F to 100A?F; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery
