BASIC PURPOSE: The UI/UX Designer works to understand our business and end-user needs, in order to create engaging digital experiences that are useful, usable and enjoyable.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of visual design, including system thinking and visualization of concepts
  • Creates strong concepts and engages during ideation process
  • Demonstrates ability to be a visual and verbal storyteller by delivering insights about people and behavior in a way that generates empathy, emotion and engagement
  • Has advanced understanding of design frameworks for interactive platforms. This includes responsive design, iOS Human Interface Guidelines, Android Material Design, etc.
  • Effectively communicates research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design and design rationale both verbally and visually
  • A leader in identifying trends and following key industries and technologies

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works directly with customers and prospects to design end-to-end experiences. Gains insights using participatory and iterative design processes, such as observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of qualitative and quantitative research to learn about user behavior, best practices and verify design concepts.
  • Understands the visual limitations and opportunities of various solutions and existing frameworks
  • Works closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented accurately
  • Participates as a contributor and, at times, a leader with an interdisciplinary team that includes other designers, design researchers, product managers, business analysts, technical and functional architects, and software developers
  • Produces application maps that define the basic structure of the experience and workflows that detail user interaction and progression
  • Creates wireframes at varying levels of fidelity depending on project needs, from basic sketches to fully annotated requirements documentation
  • Develops interactive prototypes to be used for concept testing, usability testing, or as documentation of the user experience for engineering
  • Delivers competitive analysis from an informational, feature and structural perspective

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • 4-year college degree in graphic/systems/interaction design, MIS, HCI or relevant field required.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in web or mobile application architecture design (Agile)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience developing web technologies, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (jQuery, node.js), SharePoint, Sitecore, Salesforce products and/or e-commerce, CMS platforms.
  • A stellar portfolio with small, medium and large brand experience including a focus on interactive platforms
  • Proficient with prototyping software such as balsamiq, omnigraffle, Adobe Illustrator, InVision, Sketch, Zeplin etc.
  • Position requires a combination of operational strategy, integrated production management, digital workflow expertise, team leadership and talent development experience.

Skills:

  • Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, web-based programming languages
  • Soft Skills: Strong verbal and oral communication skills, keen attention to detail, ability to multi-task, strong organization skills, flexible, good relationship and self-motivated to take on additional tasks under pressure. Strong ability to develop and extend brands across multiple platforms
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
