IT Support Specialist Position Summary Information Minimum Qualifications • Associate degree in an IT related field • Proven experience as an IT Support Specialist, Coordinator or similar role • Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills • Excellent communication ability • Outstanding organizational and time management skills • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems, networks and applications • Great attention to detail • Experience in network management and/or help desk support is appreciated • Certification in an IT related discipline is appreciated License/Certification Required • Associate degree in an IT related field • Certification in an IT related discipline is appreciated Essential Job Functions We are looking for a skilled IT Support Specialist who will maintain our information technology systems and networks. This person will perform both technical and administrative tasks to ensure functionality and efficient computer, audio-video and telecom systems. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for keeping the NCCET facility functional with quick response times to situations that arise for staff, faculty, students and guests. Essential duties Include, but are not limited to, the following: • Install and configure software and hardware • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices • Check computer hardware to ensure functionality • Monitor system and network performance • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.) • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work • Maintain licenses and upgrade schedules • Provide technical support and training for systems, networks, software and computer equipment • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and a complete maintenance schedule for all facility equipment • Research and provide advice on the most suitable IT choices for facility operations • Provide IT and staff support to students, faculty, presenters and groups utilizing the facility • Secure the facility after evening classes and programs • Act as a link between end users and higher level support • Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications • Associate degree in an IT related field • Certification in an IT related discipline is appreciated Type of Position Temporary Part Time Work Schedule/Hours 20 Hours per week (more if needed for special events).
