Position Summary: Busy Critical Access Hospital setting with attached Emergency and Clinic departments. Generalist position including phlebotomy.
Responsibilities: Performs analyses on biological specimens, e.g. blood and urine, to aid health care providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Participates in the operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
Qualifications: For MT-Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science, or health related field. Completion of a clinical laboratory internship required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Applicants with a Baccalaureate Degree in a science or health related field with completion of a clinical laboratory internship or clinical laboratory experience will be considered in the appropriate field of study (i.e. Microbiology).
For MLT- Associate's degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program or U.S. military Medical Laboratory-training program.
Additional Qualifications: Experience working in a medical field preferred. Moderate to advanced computer skills. Possess good written and oral communications skills. Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Willingness to travel to other MCHS locations for assignments as needed.
License or Certification: For MT-Required to possess one of the following; appropriate HHS (Health & Human Services) or approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT) Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP) Clinical Laboratory Scientist, CLS (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS (ASCP) Medical Technologist, MT (AMT) HEW Or registry eligible. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete Board of Registry ASCP or AMT examination within first 6 months of employment. Basic Life Support certification may be required within six months of hire, depending on location of hire. Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO) certification may be required depending on location of hire.
For MLT-Applicant should possess one of the following appropriate HHS (Health & Human Services) approved laboratory certifications: Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (AMT) Or registry eligible. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete Board of Registry ASCP or AMT examination within first 6 months of employment.
