The Kenney is a not-for-profit, faith-based Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in West Seattle that has been serving seniors since 1909. This full time position is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high quality and appetizing meals for all residents The ideal candidate willhave two years cooking experience at a minimum. POSITION SUMMARY: Experience or knowledge preparing and cooking nutritious meals for a retirement community lifestyle is a plus. Preference may be given to those candidates with industry experience. The qualified candidate will be able to read, write, comprehend and interpret instructions, policies, recipes and regulations. The candidate will be able to communicate orally and/or in writing with residents, co-workers, families and the public. The Kenney is looking for someone who can plan and organize work, set priorities, multi-task and keep focused while portraying a calm and professional demeanor at all time. Shift Schedule: Breakfast and lunch service from 5:30 am 2:00 pm KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Properly cook and serve nutritious meals. * Ensures all dietary requirements are followed. * Follows all safety and hygiene guidelines, including infection control procedures * Follows all quality assurance standards. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE: * High School diploma preferred. * Four or more years in dining services. * Experience cooking for 100 or more people. * Previous experience in health-care facility preferred. * Current food handlers permit. * Ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret instructions, recipes, policies and regulation in English.
