Overview A food handler at The Goddard School is responsible for any food management the hiring manager delegates. The food handler must have a good attention to detail and strong organizational skills. This is a part-time position 7:00-1:00pm. Qualifications A food handler must meet the following qualifications: * the ability to prepare food and serve food, in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations; * the ability to understand and comply with the hiring manager s policies relating to food service and employment policies; * the ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, children and parents; * the ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies; An offer of employment may be made contingent on the following: * A current physical examination by a physician, including a current tuberculin test or chest x-ray * A current Serv-Safe certificate, Food Manager Certificate, or Food Safety Certificate * An approved criminal record check as required by state regulations * A clean drug screen. Responsibilities The food handler is responsible for the duties outlined by the hiring manager, which may include the following: * Prepare and serve food to 125+ students per day; * Go to Aldi as needed through out the week to shop for items; * Go to Sam's club once a week to pick up items needed; * Meet the guidelines that are set for out kitchen by the hiring manager, by the state and our Quality Assurance; * Wash and sanitize the sippy cups and bottles daily, after each meal; * Maintain a neat and orderly kitchen; * Managing the food budget; * Ensuring the safe handling and preparation of all foods; * Preparing menus that include healthy lunches and snacks; * Ensuring that the menus are always in compliance with state and federal regulations; * Complying with all applicable laws and regulations relating to food handling; * Maintaining appropriate portion sizes; * Ordering food and paper products; * Ensure children with food allergies/restrictions are served the correct foods; * The ability to go into classrooms when needed.
