IT DevOps Engineer

Chipotle is hiring a Microsoft DevOps Automation Engineer. This position will be primarily responsible for automating deployments of infrastructure in Azure, AWS, on-prem, and eventually assisting in automating other components of the Application lifecycle. This position is primarily related to the Microsoft technology stack (TFS), however a deep understanding of application lifecycle management, systems, version control, and experience with cross-platform engineering are highly desirable. This is a key liaison within Information Systems, bridging the gap between Systems Administration, Development, and QA teams.

In addition to following Chipotle’s policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Work with Systems, Networking, and Restaurant teams to automate tasks and configurations in both Chipotle’s restaurant and online ordering environment

•Create automated infrastructure deployment practices around deploying applications to cloud hosted environments (Azure, AWS)

•Work closely with monitoring and alerting tools (Splunk, Solarwinds) to automatically remediate specific conditions and create automated log maintenance strategies

•Work with the restaurant, systems and QA teams to design a platform and process for managing, refreshing, and automating the deployment of lab environments

•Identify configurations that are not considered “enterprise grade” and lead cross functional teams to design sustainable and supportable solutions that scale

•Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations

•Work with Chipotle’s IT Security team to assist in automating log and event workflows and take appropriate actions based on specific conditions

•Working with other team members and vendor experts to implement, maintain, and document various infrastructure components

•Fulfilling 3rd level escalation for central systems and network issues by ensuring the issue is resolved or handed off to the appropriate party

•Evaluate containerization and how Chipotle can bring this technology to the app dev cycle as well as in the restaurants

•Build and maintain a suite of automation scripts and packages responsible for managing and maintaining Chipotle’s restaurant and online infrastructure

•Mentor and train junior administrators and operations specialists on enterprise configuration standards

Qualifications:

•Have experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products

•Have strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, SAN (NetApp, Hitachi), Virtualization (VMware), Backup and Recovery (Commvault), Disaster Recovery and security products

•Managing, designing, and automating cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) required

•Be able to multi-task and serve as a project lead or team player in a fast-paced environment with the ability to help out in areas outside of expertise if necessary

•Have the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

•Be a motivated self-started who can work independently on tasks and projects

•Possess a B.A. /B.S. in related field or an equivalent in education and experience with six (6) years’ experience working with central systems hardware and software, as well as basic project management

•5 years of experience with PowerShell or other scripting technologies

•5 years of experience with an automation platform (TFS, Chef, Puppet, Ansible)

•Experience with continuous integration practices and tools

•Experience with containerization best practices and architecture

•Have a certification in an area of expertise (MCSE, MCSA, RHCE, VCP, etc.) preferred

•Be available for limited on-call duties requiring after-hours work
