Direct Support Professional - South St. Paul - Full-time / Part-time

Paid training is provided!Job Summary: As a Direct Support Professional, you will have the responsibility of meeting the individual needs of clients, and will be assisting with daily living skills such as:* Supporting clients in reaching their goals and achieving greater independence.* Helping with high-to-low level self-cares.* Preparing meals or assisting clients with meal preparation.* Driving clients to medical appointments and bringing them on activities such as going out to eat, to the movies and more.* Administering medication and/ or working with medical equipment.* Helping clients maintain their household by assisting with laundry, budgeting, cleaning and shopping.* Documenting daily activities and health logs.* Working alongside the client's guardians, families, case manager and other team members.Hours Available:Part Time:* Friday, Saturday & Sunday 4pm - 10pm:This home supports 4 gentlemen who are active in their communities, and prefer to go out and about rather than stay at home. The gentlemen like to go bowling, work out at the local YMCA, bike, watch football, play cards, among many other hobbies. Some of the gentlemen cook on their own, and we support them to buy which foods they would like to make. Some gentlemen need a bit more support, and we cook for them. As we all are, the gentlemen are getting older, and there are early signs of age related decline, slowing some down a bit. One gentlemen primarily speaks Hmong, with limited English words - Hmong speakers are very welcome!* Saturday & Sunday 8am - 10pm* Monday - Friday 4pm - 9pm* On-Call/Relief (Hmong-speaking preferred)Qualifications:* Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs* Willingness to attend to personal cares, household cleaning, meal preparation and health needs.* Positive attitude and compassion desired* Department of Human Services Background Clearance* Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and auto insurance required* Must be 18 years or older* Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verballyThomas Allen has been a leader in providing services to people with developmental disabilities of all ages and with wide-ranging needs for 39 years.
