***THIS IS A 3rd SHIFT POSITION*** (10pm-6am with Mandatory overtime as requested) Job Title: Finishing Supervisor (Working Supervisor) JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: This position reports to the Finishing Manager and is responsible for production, training and maintenance of finishing and fulfilment equipment and employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Leads by example and embodies the Plant Mission, Culture and Company E4. Responsible for supervising utilizing positive reinforcement with accountability. * Schedules work and employees, maintaining the efficient use of machines and people, and ensure the completion of all jobs in order to meet shipping and/or mail dates by efficiently scaling labor to WIP. * Works with leadership to maximize the volume and velocity of jobs that flow through the plant. * Ensures machines are run at the highest speeds possible. * Ensures all handwork is executed in the most productive manner possible. * Ensures the Finishing and Fulfillment areas are clean and organized. * Ensures all Job Package instructions are being followed and seeks guidance when they are unclear. Works together and communicates with Client Services and other departments as needed. Ensuring jobs do not proceed without clarity. Ensures and encourages employees to up channel questions or quality issues and provides resolution when issues exist. * Champions continuous improvement (CI) and operational excellence. * Minimizes waste and contains cost. * Participates in and executes CI and Leagile initiatives as applicable. * Ensures employees are productive and working on WIP or other tasks approved by the Finishing Manager. * Monitors all production activities, giving approval prior to production run. * Ensures clear communications between the different operations within the department. * Interprets company/department policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. * Understand and communicate complete job information to employees within the department. * Maintain production and quality standards. * Learns how to operate all machines and equipment. * Trains employees how to use machines and equipment. * Conducts daily walkabouts and engages employees. * Monitor spoilage and waste, informing the Finishing Manager of excess spoilage and all waste. * Ensure compliance of all procedures for Operators and General Finishing and Fulfilment workers. * Communicate with the maintenance and assure proper equipment maintenance. * Inform Fulfilment Manager of all machine breakdowns and maintenance problems that do or could affect production. * Coordinate, assist and inform Fulfilment Manager of purchase for the department. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: * Evaluate employees for wage increases and promotions within the department. * Recommend to the Finishing Manager hiring and discipline/firing within the department. Inform the manager of employees problems or potential problems, encouraging discipline as warranted and informing the Finishing Manager in writing of any disciplinary action to be taken, as well as performance above and beyond . * Inform the Finishing Manager in writing of any reason an employee will be late, off work, etc. * Maintain good communications and work relations with all department employees, other departments, customers and suppliers * Assist in employee development and growth within the department. * Ensure accurate timecard and production ticket reporting. * Keep the Finishing Manager informed of all department activities. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Directly supervises employees in the Finishing Department. Supervisors carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with HWI s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems. * Supervisors are responsible for maintaining a safe, productive and respectful workplace by proactively responding to any unsafe conditions, inappropriate behavior or violations of company policy. Promptly communicate such issues to your manager. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a High School education required plus at least two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate a variety of precision measuring devices and magnifying devices. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
