Caregiver / Home Care Aide - Paid Training - Full-time / Part-time

You will report to our Operations Manager with a dashed-line to our Director of Operations.

Qualifications Overview:

This position requires the skills, knowledge and abilities of a health care professional. This experience is typically acquired over three or more years of related experience and training. Our ideal candidate will have a strong, quantifiable track record of success in this arena.
This role requires a high degree of patience, interpersonal communication, documentation, possess the ability to take direction well, self-motivated, and above all, customer service. You will need the ability to work independently out of the office to achieve goals while coordinating with internal staff. Effective conflict management, customer service and interpersonal relations skills are necessary.

Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.

Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.

Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult clients.

Must be able to relate information concerning a client's condition.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must read and write English at an average High School graduate level

Must possess the ability to drive or use public transportation to get to work.

Must have a valid driver s license.

Must possess the ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations.

Scope of Job:

Ensure that the plan of care created by the Care Manager is properly Implemented and followed.

Must document all daily activities.

Must log in and log out of shifts using the Telephony System

Must report any significant changes in the client and any medication changes to the office immediately.

Needs to know concepts of meal planning, preparation and clean-up.

May need to preform light housekeeping of kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, laundry, and other areas of the home identified by the client.

May need to provide incidental transportation using client or personal car.

May need to assist client in walking, light exercise, physical therapy routines, cognitive stimulation, and companionship.

Must be comfortable with bathing, toileting, dressing, all aspects of personal grooming.

Must understand the concepts of medication reminders.

Will need to assure a sanitary and safe home environment.

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.

Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable
manner.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with clients, personnel, and support agencies.

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of Grandcare which include a medical and physical examination.

Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people.

Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of clients during emergency situations.
