Server Engineer

Join an exciting, industry leading company and help Engineer their infrastructure. Looking for a talented Server Engineer with extensive VMWare experience for our client.

Essential Duties:

• Information Quality: Provide right and accurate best in class service. Focusing on customer service, security and compliance, monitoring, process controls and improvements.
• Speedy Solutions: Provide timely solutions that produce effective reliable & secure operations for business competency.
• Growth Alignment: Planning and analyzing corporate goals and ISD Mission and cost effectively provide strategy aligning 3-year technology strategies to support ISD
• Collaboration Excellence: Communicate, Participate, and Engage the right people, processes, and technologies to create new competitive business opportunities.

• Presentation skills to explain the values of IT to business teams (great verbal/written skill at assessing risk, explaining ROI, and showing achievable goals)
• Project management Build project plans that explain 5W2H (who, what, where, why, when, how, and how much) skills to deliver project goals and objectives
• Technical Skills
• Minimum 7 years of experience building and supporting VMware platform at an enterprise level.
• Minimum 5 years of hands on experience with managing SAN attached Storage.
• Minimum 5 years of hands on experience supporting VMware Replication Product
• Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Server OS hands on experience (Windows, Linux, Unix, etc)
• Minimum 3 years of hands on experience with DNS, DHCP and Directory technologies.
• Expert in the field of DR strategy, backup and recovery.
• Expert at designing architecture that allows for automated resource allocation.
• Expert at managing system resources creating monitors to alert on error or impending conditions.
• Expert at creating Snapshots, and Clones
• Expert at handling VMotions for cases of maintenance on the HA Clusters for 0 business down time.
• Expert at upgrades to VMware infrastructure for major versions (4 to 5, 5 to 5.5, 5.5 to 6.0, etc)
• Expert at documenting process and architecture with tools like Visio, PowerPoint, Mapping tools and Excel
• Good understanding of underlying hardware supporting VMware platform. IBM/Lenovo Blade hosts a plus.
• Good understanding of Cloud Virtualization Strategies and some experience with migration and management of cloud hybrid environment.
• Good working knowledge of Windows Servers, Linux, and Unix OSes
• Good working knowledge of Networking within LAN/WAN, Wireless, and DMZ as it relates to VMware Network Interfaces.
• Good working knowledge of System and Application protocols and how they traverse the network (ICMP, SSH, SNMP, SMTP, etc)
