General Overview of this GLS Position: The Service Technician position specializing in Pre-Production (P-P) and Regular Production (R-P) vehicles within the GLS organization requires an individual with a reasonably high level of Automotive Technological background, training and experience. This individual provides general service support for all vehicles exclusive of any preventative maintenance. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: * Work to ensure GM Customer Satisfaction in all facets of client interface. Perform P-P and R-P Vehicle Incoming inspections including overall exterior and interior condition proper component operation up-on-hoist full undercarriage review and 10 15 minute road test. (Repairs will be made as necessary and in accordance with established approvals). Perform P-P/R-P Vehicle Incoming Lite inspections intended for returning vehicles that were simply on-display not driven. These units would not require up-on-hoist review or road test. Perform P-P/R-P Vehicle Disposal inspections ensuring unit is completely in-spec and any safety issues noted and/or repaired. Diagnose, and repair as necessary, suspected P-P/R-P vehicle mechanical malfunctions or out-of-spec conditions. Diagnose, and repair as necessary, suspected P-P/R-P vehicle electrical malfunctions or out-of-spec conditions. Diagnose, and repair as necessary, suspected P-P/R-P vehicle minor body or interior related malfunctions or out-of-spec conditions. Provide Off-site assistance for Auto Shows, Events, Advertising Photo Shoots, or other special activities which require a Technician to remain accessible at all times. NOTE: Technician must possess a vast array of hand, diagnostic and power tools necessary to effectively execute his day-to-day responsibilities. Required and/or Preferred Skills and Abilities: Must possess State of Michigan Master or Specialty Mechanic Certification or ASE Certification or practical experience. Has (or can secure) a US Passport and available for periodically travel assignments. Must possess above-average vehicle systems diagnostic and problem solving skills. Must be reasonably skilled in the understanding of basic vehicle operation to include the following components: o HVAC, Fuel/Exhaust, Brake System, Engine Electrical, Body Electrical, Engine Overhaul, Rear Axle Overhaul, Manual Transmission/Transfer case, Front-Wheel Drive Transaxle, Automatic Transmission, Minor Body/Interior. Will require the ability to Multi-Task. Will require the ability to plan, organize and follow-through. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Will require reasonable computer skills regarding accessing, reading and inputting required vehicle repair data.
