We provide our utility clients with a wide range of energy-saving and renewable energy solutions. From individual utility customers and construction contractors, to utilities, municipalities, and government bodies, our clients have come to depend on our customized energy efficiency programs to help them to meet their energy saving goals.

The Inventory Specialist is primarily responsible for oversight and management of the warehouse facility; product, tools, and equipment; and the vehicle fleet. You will also be working with others who are passionate about energy efficiency and making a positive impact on the industry.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations and organization, to include facility configuration/layout; receipt and inspection of deliveries; staging and stocking of product and tools; daily product check-out and check-in to/from Field Staff; preparation of product for Field Staff; keeping facility free of trash and debris
  • Ensure security and safety of materials stored within, and users of, the warehouse and vehicles
  • Be responsible for inventory control of portfolio product, individual tools, team tools, vehicles and associated equipment
  • Prepare weekly and monthly inventory reports, to include product received, on-hand, checked out, checked in, installed and returned as defective
  • Participate in product and equipment procurement strategies and processes
  • Manage the portfolio vehicle fleet, to include oversight of usage, maintenance, cleanliness, organization and safety
  • Implement and enforce warehouse and vehicle policies and procedures
  • Train Field Staff in warehouse, inventory/product management and vehicle procedures
  • Assist with coordination of Field Staff assigned to warehouse-related tasks
  • Regularly communicate with Purchasing Specialist, Field Supervisors, Field Manager, and other staff regarding on-hand inventory, product and vehicle usage, damaged/defective product, tools and vehicles
  • Participate in regular scheduled and non-scheduled meetings with leadership team and Field Staff
  • Coordinate with Operations and Quality Assurance staff on development of and adherence to warehouse, vehicle and product best practices
  • Develop strategies to increase product management efficiency and minimize loss
  • Assist Field Supervisors and Field Manager with performance reviews of Field Staff
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding energy efficiency, site assessments, and direct installation, achieved in part via periodic ride-alongs with Field Staff
  • Provide a professional appearance appropriate for a representative of Franklin Energy and the Utility

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced degree - Preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in warehouse and/or supply chain management - Preferred
  • Knowledge of the electric or natural gas utility industry, facilities management, HVAC design or sales, residential, commercial, and/or industrial lighting, or conservation and energy management. Weatherization knowledge - A plus
  • Previous management experience - Preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Must be able to handle a wide work variety and work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, a self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize workload
  • First Aid certification - Preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to create and maintain reports and spreadsheets
  • Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients and employee
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, including some overnight travel

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle tools, equipment and/or controls
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Noise level is typically moderate
  • Ability to work within variable climactic conditions (Warehouse is not climate-controlled)
  • Employee could be exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles and risk of potential shock
