For more information about the company and our services, please visit our website: www.homewatchcaregivers.com/east-bay/castro-valley Duties of the Companion Caregiver include * Companionship and safety * Assistance with IADLs such as: light housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, transportation, etc. * Engaging clients in meaningful activities and hobbies * Assistance with family communications Job Requirements * Must be at least 19 years of age and a high school graduate. * Minimum one-year experience providing companion care to the elderly at home or in an assisted living facility. * Experience with childcare or care for developmentally-disabled individuals a plus. * Must have a valid California Driver's License. * Ability to drive clients in one's own car is preferred. * CPR and First Aid training and certification required * Must be registered as Home Care Aide (HCA) with the State of California. * Proficiency in the English language--reading, speaking, and writing. * Fluency in another language desirable, e.g. Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, etc. * Ability to function with minimal supervision and to maintain a professional relationship with the client. * Must be able to pass all background checks, drug testing, and health screenings per regulatory requirements and company standards. * Must accept responsibility for maintaining skills and learning on an ongoing basis, as well as adhering to company policies. Major Responsibilities * Responsible for assisting the agency s clients with their companion care needs in accordance with the care plan. * Responsible for assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) in a safe and beneficial manner. * Caregivers must be observant enough to recognize changes in their clients, and be capable of alerting the appropriate personnel when necessary. * Does not administer medication or perform any procedures requiring the knowledge or skills of a licensed nurse or registered therapist.
