Great immediate opportunity for Manager with kitchen experience OR Culinarian with front of house management experience. We are a local Hospitality Group based in Berkeley CA. preparing to open a new caf location in a brand new state of the art building at the Haas Business School at UC Berkeley. Must be passionate about food and service and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. Looking for self starters and leaders who want to help grow a new restaurant concept while building a high performance team.You should be great with customer service, have a strong culinary knowledge and an upbeat organized personality. This person will have a strong sense of urgency. We are looking for someone with at least 2-3 years of experience, with a proven track record of running a successful foodservice program.Must be comfortable with clientele made up of graduate students, staff and faculty from a prestigious University and business school.This person must be a very strong leader and communicator and have the ability to work closely and collaborate with others. S/He can oversee multiple departments and demands while ensuring that the caf maintains its high standards and profitability. Working with the catering department is an important factor in this position as well as overseeing that front and back of house are working together and properly staffed.Must have a strong working knowledge of HACCP and maintain a ServSafe Manager certificate. Must be proficient in basic computer skills and willing to be trained on and train others on different computer applications. Must be able to keep team and staff motivated, inspired and knowledgeable.Candidates will need 2-3 years of Management Experience in their related role in full service or casual dining and leading teams, delivering memorable service, innovative menu and service design and the ability to manage finances success.Key responsibilities include:Coordinate, plan, participate, and supervise the production, preparation and presentation of food.Provide a safe, sanitary work environment, which conforms to all standards and regulations and achieves profitable, competitive quality products.Supervise and participate in the production, preparation, and presentation of all foods for unit as assigned to ensure that a consistent quality product is produced which conforms to all established standards.Interview, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, resolve problems, provide open communication, recommend discipline as appropriate, and perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
