Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented Land Construction Manager who will be responsible for:

  • Tract acceptance and bond exoneration
  • Project management of grading/utilities/concrete/paving/landscaping and other infrastructure of residential subdivisions
  • Coordination with city and/or county agencies for approvals and acceptance of work
  • Management of subcontractors and consultants
  • Project scheduling and work management
  • Ability to obtain plan approval and building permit issuance
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and many tasks at any given time
  • Coordination with other team members to resolve problems quickly
  • Daily project visits and oversight
  • Contractor and consultant coordination to facilitate storm water pollution prevention
  • Project budgeting, bidding and contracting

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • 5 - 8 years off-site/infrastructure construction experience with increasing levels of project oversight experience.
  • Experience with heavy civil or infrastructure construction preferred
  • Degree in Construction Management may be substituted for up to 4 years of experience
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction practices.
  • Ability to prioritize projects, work against deadlines and organize work flow with multiple interruptions
  • Must be able to read construction documents, surveys and technical reports to maintain quality control and oversee all aspects of construction including underground utilities, paving, grading and drainage infrastructure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Ability to explain complex issues to others in a manner easily understood by both associates in the industry and customers with limited knowledge of construction processes or terminology
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interface with all levels within the organization, dissatisfied customers, outside vendors, subcontractors, and City or County inspectors
  • Excellent problem/conflict resolution skills, ability to handle and diffuse difficult situations and customer concerns in a positive manner
  • High degree of professionalism, tact and ability to influence others
  • Must exercise sound judgment
  • Sound judgment, ability to make decisions, work and act independently, and seek assistance or consult with more senior construction personnel when necessary.
  • Team player; ability to work within cross-functional teams
  • Takes initiative; proactively addresses problems with regards to product or process

  • Analytical with ability to give, receive, and analyze information in order to make effective decisions under pressure, in a high-volume fast paced environment
  • Organized, with ability to prioritize multiple projects and workflow of department to meet deadlines, often with frequent interruptions and changing circumstances.
  • Takes initiative and works with minimal oversight; proactively addresses problems with regards to work product, process and personnel

UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent local travel between project sites and regular travel.
  • Ability to operate an automobile, have a valid driver s license, requires travel to and from various construction sites and traversing the sites either by walking or vehicle.
  • Normal home construction hours which may require some evenings and weekends as needed, or as dictated by weather conditions or emergency situations
  • Work is supervisory in nature and is conducted on pre-development property/land and active construction sites in close proximity to heavy equipment in operation.
