AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION TECHNICIAN POSITION INFORMATION: The Collision Technician repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with the factory and dealership specifications, using hand tools and power tools. KEY RESULT AREAS: 1. Repair or replace structure to damaged vehicles per estimate of repair. 2. Perform repairs to vehicle to pre-accident condition by following I-car and paint manufacturing guidelines. 3. Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window-and-seat-operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders. 4. Metal Straighten: Body Filler finished to 150 grid with pinholes removed. 5. Welded on Panels: To have the same amount of welds and same location as manufacturer. 6. Apply Primer to all welded panels. 7. Unibody-Frame 8. Identify damage to vehicle with the use of shark measuring sytem. 9. Repair unibody-Frames or replace components as needed. 10. Report to supervisor missed items on Estimate for supplemental work. 11. Remove dents by using dolly and hammer or stud gun and puller. 12. Fill depression with body filler, using plastic spreader. 13. Remove damaged fenders, panels and gr4ills using the wrenches and cutting torch. 14. Bolt or weld replacement parts in position, using wrenches or welding equipment. 15. Straighten bent automobile frames, using Kansas Jack frame straightening and Shark Computer alignment. 16. File, grind and sand repair surfaces, using power tools and hand tools, primer accordingly. 17. Check and fill any fluids pertaining to work. 18. Repair or replace defective mechanical parts. 19. Ensure that work areas are kept clean. 20. Use safety equipment at all times. QUALIFICATIONS: I-Car, ASE, GM and 5-Star Certified Preferred. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Ability to identify damage per estimate. Working knowledge of all aspects of repairs for damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles. Working knowledge of all aspects of painting body parts and bodies of vehicles. Valid driver's license. Ability to interpret vendor catalogs. Two years of experience as a vehicle body repair/painter or apprentice. Ability to use hand and power tools and other machinery safely. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds. Will use hand and power tools. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
