ESTIMATORS

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

  • Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation, to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements, and prepares itemized list.
  • Coordinates material take-off, subcontractor quotations, and prepares estimates for selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
  • Participates in cost negotiation meetings to clarify quantities, scope of work and rationale on construction methods.
  • Prepares time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying specialized methodologies, techniques, or processes.
  • Computes cost factors used for preparing estimates for management and determining cost effectiveness.
  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction to include value engineering alternatives and researches material substitutions
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepares/Controls Project Schedule
  • Consults with Project Management Team
  • Responsible for locating/researching new software for estimating use

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:

Four-year bachelor s degree in Engineering, Architectural, Construction Management or equivalent combination of technical training and experience ability. Construction estimating experience, preferred. Advanced knowledge of construction methodologies, techniques and processes. Thorough understanding of Company and industry practices, policies, and standards. Company loyalty. Good tact, diplomacy, and problem solving skills.
