Summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Construction Engineer for the Southern Gateway joint venture project in Dallas, Texas. General contractor Balfour Beatty US in a joint venture with Irving-based Fluor Enterprises have landed a $625 million roadway reconstruction and improvement project along 35E and U.S. 67 at the southern gateway of Dallas. The 11-mile project will expand Interstate 35E from four lanes to five lanes in each direction, with plans to build two reversible, non-toll express lanes in the center of the thoroughfare. The interchange will also be improved by rebuilding the Interstate 35E and U.S. 67 interchange and widening U.S. 67 from Interstate 35E and Interstate 20 by adding a third lane in each direction. Pegasus Link Constructors (PLC) LLC, comprised of two of the world's largest, most experienced design-build firms: Fluor Enterprises Inc. and Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc. Their successful 10-year partnership has resulted in many design-build projects in Texas over the last 15 years.

Essential Functions

Coordinate with project Superintendents and Foreman to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities will include plan takeoffs and tracking of installed quantities.
Review and approve timecards for accuracy and proper cost allocation.
Ensure all labor, equipment, and material costs are properly allocated.
Coordinate delivery of materials.
Interpret plans and resolve issues that arise with project design team.
Supervise and direct subcontractors and major suppliers.
Coordinate with survey crew to ensure timely lay out.

Minimum Requirements

B.S. degree required for this position.
6 months of construction field experience is required for this entry level position.
Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).

Preferred Requirements

B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering strongly preferred.
2 or more years of construction office or field experience preferred.
Internship(s) or Co-ops with a construction company is desired.
Organizes people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
Makes decisions under tight deadlines, sometimes with incomplete information.
Exhibits commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and make necessary changes, using customer input to make improvements, and meeting/exceeding internal and external customer expectation.
Acts in a manner of integrity that demonstrates support for the company values and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
