Zingerman's Mail Order is the online and catalog shop for Zingerman's. We ship great food and gifts all across America, everything from bread and cheese to cured ham and tinned fish.

The holidays at are crazy but fun. We grow from a crew of 50 to a swarm of nearly 500. People come to work here from all walks of life. Moms, dads, students, retirees, landscapers, dancers. Some people are in between jobs. Some people, this is their first job. Some folks come because they want to work with us for the long term. Some, it's just a little job for extra Christmas present money. Any reason is fine with us. Nearly everyone who works here now started as a part of a holiday crew at one time or another. We'd love for you to join us.

What kinds of things do you do in this job?

• There are a lot of jobs in the warehouse.
• There are pickers who select the items and the route runners who roam the warehouse and bring them the olive oils and coffee cakes to put in the tubs.
• There are checkers, the detail-oriented people (you know how you are!), who check the box contents to make sure they are perfect.
• There are the packers who perform three dimensional Tetris to fit the foods in the box.
• There are UPS scanners and truck stackers who do more 3D Tetris (sorry if we're dating ourselves!) to stack the truck.
• There are the food folks who bag bread, cut cheese and cook food in our kitchen.

The Performance Expectations for this position are:

• Fulfill orders for shipping - tasks include building gift boxes & baskets, packing boxes, and some food preparation
• Follow all written and verbal job instructions
• Maintain expected pace
• Deliver amazing service to our fellow staff
• Scan orders and navigate computer screens to check orders and and obtain assembly instructions
• Be a productive member of our fun, fast-paced energetic team.
• Work with our crew to deliver the Zingerman's Experience to each of our customers!

The Success Patterns for this position are:

• Commitment to doing repeated tasks to ensure consistent results.
• Comfortable taking action to resolve an error or mistake before an order leaves our building.
• A tendency to be a stickler for details while maintaining expected pace.
• Basic computer skills required
• Ability to read, speak and write fluently in English
• Comfortable bending, lifting, and being on your feet for a 6-10 hour shift in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds comfortably and repeatedly
• Have reliable transportation to and from work
• Must be punctual and have excellent attendance
• Must have open schedule availability
• Must be available to work 5-7 shifts per week during December.

What and where is this job?
This is a job in our warehouse located at. At the holiday, our warehouse is open seven days a week and 24 hours a day. It is where we pick and pack orders for our customers. It's where we wrap bread, make gift boxes, cut cheese and cook spiced pecans in our kitchen. We are on the.

What does it take to get hired in our Warehouse?
There are lots of things we are hoping to find in anyone who applies. (We've listed them below.) But there are three musts:

1. You must be available in November from 8am-8pm Monday through Friday, and expect to work three 4-8 hour shifts per week.

2. You must work in DECEMBER either day shift or night shift:

Day Shift: 10am 8pm (Sunday through Friday)
Night Shift: 10pm 8am (Saturday through Thursday)

3. You must work these critical six days DECEMBER (based on your shift):

Day: Sundays December 3, 10, 17. Mondays December 4, 11, 18.
Night: Saturdays December 2, 9, 16. Sundays December 3, 10, 17.

What is the pay?
$11 per hour.

Are there any other perks?
Absolutely. Free meals and snacks. All breaks are paid. 25% discount on nearly everything we sell.

Will I get full time work?
We aim to.  You can expect part time hours at first. Full time hours come during the two weeks before Christmas.

When does this job begin and end?
Work starts in November and ends on or around December 21, 2017.

Can I apply for full time work after the job ends?
Yes, we encourage it. We'll have a limited number of part & full time positions at Mail Order and elsewhere in the Zingerman's Community of Business after the holiday.

What kinds of skills are required for this job?

• The strength and endurance to lift 20 pounds at a time regularly, all day long, while bending and being on your feet.
• The comfort to work with a computer. Not in any serious way, but to scan things and, when it goes wrong, to get out of mis-scans without too much waiting.
• English fluency.

What's the hiring process like?
We don't have a typical interview for our holiday crew. Instead we have tests for skills, like picking correct orders. We invite a group of applicants once or twice a week that usually happens within days after you apply and if you're hired you'll get your start date the same day you interview.
