The Furniture Project Manager will be responsible for providing direct oversight of projects, procurements, and daily operations and will serve as primary point of contact and communication with internal and external customers on designated projects. The Furniture Project Manager will manage and coordinate all activities involving jobs of varying scopes to ensure successful completion. The Furniture Project Manager will review, monitor and coordinate all production activities within the assigned team to ensure accuracy of order, installation, and problem resolution in order to achieve final client acceptance and sign-off.

  • Develops and utilizes project checklist and planning procedures to ensure an orderly and organized project.
  • Gathers information regarding security clearances, building access, service entrance etc. prior to project start date, and ensures that all information is communicated to the respective parties, and is entered in shipping notes for documentation.
  • Sets detailed production timeline and shares client expectations with sales, operations leadership, and employees.
  • Coordinates resources (Union/non-Union, install team, inventory, equipment needed).
  • Maintains position as point of contact for customer & all stakeholders and coordinates with other vendors on site of event, as needed, to ensure timely delivery and takedown.
  • Conducts project meeting with client/Operations/Sales after completion of project, to include completed project-related documentation.
  • Maintains accurate information for every project managed.
  • Manages workflow throughout the project by effectively influencing decisions and conversations both inside and outside of Cort Business Services.
  • Follows the process steps when initiating and coordinating a new project, to include supplying the project schedule to Sales and Operations prior to the start of the project.
  • Acts as the lead person on the project site and is responsible for managing the team through project completion.
  • Remains in communication with key stakeholders of the project (sales reps, operations leadership, and employees) until the project is complete.
  • Completes projects by the established deadline, and remains on-site of the project until completion, unless prior arrangements are made and agreed upon with direct Manager.
  • Efficient and knowledgeable with performing minor cosmetic repairs to walls and floors.
  • Field travel 70% of the time for project management responsibilities, to include: customer site visits with Sales, Quality inspections on Residential & Commercial delivery, site visits for customer repairs, or as assigned by direct manager.
  • Sources, identifies, leverages, and monitors new vendor services to achieve efficiencies in cost.
  • Manages multiple projects and tracks the status of assets and project status to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested/assigned to achieve business objectives by direct Manager.


  • Knowledge of New York City buildings, including unionized locations.
  • Must have 5 years of experience acting as Lead or Project Manager, with knowledge of commercial furniture installation.
  • 4-year college degree, with 5+ years of related experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership and people-management.
  • Ability to read floor plans and blue prints.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a crew of delivery staff and installers.
  • Must be able to work evenings & weekends in the Tri State area (NY, NJ, and CT).
  • Experience working with major panel brands such as Herman Miller A02 and Steelcase Avenir.
  • Hands-on experience working with New York City electrical codes.
  • Responsible for leading the coordination of union labor, where necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, reasoning skills, and computer proficiency skills.
  • Ability to self-direct and work independently.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Must have local state driver's license, safe driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to speak read and write English fluently.
  • Required regularly to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
