Position Summary:

The Analyst will assist in developing analytical models and dashboards that transform mass amounts of data into information that answer critical questions presented by business partners. The analyst will also be a subject matter expert in various data toolsets and help enable analytics across the organization. The analyst will educate business users on the various forms of analyses and explain what best meets their need.

Position Responsibilities:

Primary Functions:

  • Gather and organize critical questions from business users across the organization to determine the best form(s) of analyses.
  • Assist in establishing analytics best practices for self-service analyses by developing an understanding of how business intelligence & analytics tools are currently being used within the organization.
  • Maximize the capabilities of current BI&A toolsets such as DOMO and Cognos to create analytical models and dashboard solutions in support of business initiatives.
  • Stay current on advanced analytics and makes recommendations on new toolsets for the organization.
  • Train end-user community on newly developed models/dashboards and best practices for self-service analytics.
  • Help the business transform data into information that will provide actionable results.
  • Identify key areas for process documentation and improvement through data analysis and strategic thinking
  • Develop opinions/recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Ensure accuracy of data and analyses presented
  • Work with Management, SMEs and Business Owners to conduct issue management and root cause analysis

Analytical and Technical Functions:

  • Perform in depth review of complex business requirements to determine appropriate solution.
  • Collaborate to ensure optimization of analytical models and/or dashboards.
  • Develop analytical models and dashboards for user groups.
  • Assist in documenting and troubleshooting business rules applied to data models and dashboards.
  • Utilize business processes, templates and department guidelines to deliver high quality analytics.

Educational Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of related professional experience preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong analytic skills are required
  • Experience with customer selection and response reporting for direct mail campaigns (catalogs, retail flyers, etc) preferred
  • Experience with customer file behavior metrics and segments a plus
  • SQL/SAS or other database query language or tools experience a plus
  • The ability to think creatively
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with business partners throughout the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to be productive and lead others with minimal supervision
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize and schedule daily activities for the most efficient use of time
  • Strong PC skills and willingness to learn new tools and programs.
